How well do you know the letter to Philemon?

You may know that Philemon was Paul’s shortest letter and that it was about a runaway slave. But what is the message for us, and why is this letter in the Bible?

Some say the letter is about Christian love and forgiveness. But the real story goes much deeper than that. The letter to Philemon is about the partnership between God the Son and God the Father.

The story is not about what we do for others but what God has done for us.

It’s the good news of Christ our Friend who speaks on our behalf. And what does Christ say for us? “Forgive him, receive him, adopt him.”

Philemon may be the most new covenanty story in the Bible.
